QR Codes are an interesting technology tool that are really good at creating an interactive classroom. They are easy to make. There are many websites to make free QR Codes. There are also all different types of things that can be shown through the codes. Videos, pictures, texts, social media, documents, websites, and many more things can be embedded in the code. Once all that is set up, all the students have to do is have something like an iPhone or iPad, and have a QR Code reader. The camera will read the code and take the student to the page image, video, or page that has been set up.
This technology tool fits into the Third Domain of the Danielson Framework of Teaching. The Third Domain has to deal with instruction. This technology tool fits really well with 3d in the Third Domain. This element is about engaging students in learning. This tool is the perfect way to engage students in learning. The students could make their own QR Codes were they record their own response to the class as an exit ticket. It gives the students a new way to interact with their teacher and even each other. This technology tool also fits in with 3a, which is communicating with students. A teacher could give their response to a written homework assignment through a QR Code and send it to their students. It's a new and different way of communication. This tool fits very well into the Danielson Framework of Teaching.
This technology tool could be used to get students to go exactly where you want them to go. Instead of directing students to go to a certain website of video and have them type out the whole URL, instead make a QR Code, and they will be brought exactly to that page. There will not be the hassle of students not being able to find the right page or video. Another way that QR Codes can be used is for an exit ticket in class. The students can record their thoughts by the end of class and turn the QR Code in as their response. Another way for QR Codes can be used is for a scavenger hunt. The students can follow go to the QR Codes and answer the question attached to the QR Code, and it will lead them to the next spot that they have to go to. I think that one day I could use this tool in my future classroom. It could be very helpful and fun. I think that I would have work with it more to find better ways to use it and incorporate it into my classroom first. After finding good and helpful uses for this tool, then I will be able to enjoy using this tool in my classroom.
