Domain Four of the Danielson Framework is about the different responsibilities a teacher faces. A teacher has the responsibility to look back on their lessons to see how they could revise the lesson or improve their own skills. A teacher also has the responsibility of maintaining an accurate records. A teacher needs to be organized in keeping track of their students behavior and grades. The next thing that is important is communicating with parents. This ties in with being organized. A teacher needs to be organized with keeping records of their students to be able to communicate effectively to parents about the improvements of their child. Another aspect of Domain Four is becoming a part a professional community, developing professionally, and showing professionalism. All of these things are very important aspects of Domain Four. It lays out all the things a teacher should be doing on their part to ensure that they are doing their best to teacher their students.
4a: Reflecting on teaching
Teachers analyzing decisions planning and implementing a lesson, and how they might impact a student.
Lookin back to see where revisions are needed to improve the lesson in the future.
Collegial conversations, conversations with students, and thinking about their teaching.
Think and analyze instruction through the lens of a learning student which improves teaching and learning.
4b: Maintaining Accurate Records
Instructional and non-instructional events
Completion of assignments, students progress in learning, non-instructional activities (ex. accounting for signed permission slips for a field trip)
Help with student and parent interactions.
Monitor learning and adjust instruction.
Keep records by spread sheets, data bases, anecdotal notes in students folders.
4c: Communicating with Families
It is the teachers responsibility to provide opportunities for parents to understand their child's progress and the instructional program.
These things help establish a relationship with the families.
The teachers effort to communicate show how much a teachers cares about their students.
4d: Participating in a Professional Community
Promote the learning of students
To promote the learning of the students, teachers work with colleagues to share strategies, joint efforts, and plan for success of individual students.
Mutual support and respect, all teachers to be constantly seeking ways to improve their practice and contribute to the life of the school.
4e: Growing and Developing Professional
Teacher continues to grow and develop to remain current.
Growing allows a teacher to be more effective and exercise leadership among colleagues.
Growth in content, pedagogy, and information technology.
Networking with colleagues: joint planning, study groups, and lesson studies.
Belonging to professional organizations, professional journals, educational conferences, and taking university classes.
4f: Showing Professionalism
Students focused, putting students first, best interest for students.
Interactions with colleagues have honesty and integrity.
Know students needs and seek out resources and advocate for the students.
Keep the students in mind when problem solving and decision making.
Work to improve school policies that are out dated.
