Google Forms is a great way to make easy surveys and assessments for your students. In Google Forms, there are many different types of questions that can be asked. There is multiple choice, short and long answer, checkboxes, drop downs, different types of scales, and multiple choice/ checkboxes grid. In Google Forms, it is possible to organize the questions in any way, and to even split the questions into multiple pages. Another feature of Google Forms is being able to insert photos and videos into the assessment or survey. It is also possible to pick a theme and colors for the form. It is a good way to personalize the form and to make it fun.
This technology tool fits into the First Domain of the Danielson Framework. This technology tool shows that the teacher knows their students and that they know their different resources. This technology tool can help teachers make easy surveys so that they can easily and quickly asses the things that their students know. Doing something like that is can provide good communication between the students and teacher. The teacher can get an idea of where their students are at, and students can also be given the opportunity to give feedback to their teachers. Another way the Google Forms fits into this framework is that it shows the students that the teacher has a knowledge of resources. By using technology like Google Forms, the teacher is using something that students are a comfortable with using. Also a teacher could use Google Forms to make an "Internet Safety" survey. This shows the students that the teacher understanding the different types if things they use in the internet and how those things could be useful to the classroom, but it also teaches the students that the internet is a tool and that in needs to be used wisely. These things also tie into the different elements of Domain 1. The few things mentioned are good examples of 1b, "Demonstrating knowledge of students," 1d, "Demonstrating a knowledge or resources," and finally 1f, "Designing student assessments."
This technology tool could be used in a couple different ways in a classroom. A teacher could use this at the beginning of the school year, and have a "getting to know you" survey where the students get to share a little about themselves. Another way that a teacher can use this in a classroom is for a short quiz. It can be helpful to the teacher because the quizzes can be graded automatically and give feedback to the students automatically. This can save a good amount of time for a teacher on grading quizzes and instead give the teacher more time to work on their lesson plan or more important matters. There are many different variations of these two examples that teachers can use Google Forms for. Looking at these different examples, I think that I would really like to use this in my classroom one day. I think that it would be a great way to connect with my students and to get feedback from them quickly. I think that Google Forms is a great tool. It is very straight forward and easy to use. It could become a great tool in the classroom!
